Market Day

Below are some pictures of the stall during the market. overall it was a great experience, and an enjoyable one at that. Although we had a slow start in terms of visitor numbers, a quick change to our layout solved it. (we placed the making table on the main aisle side rather than in a more closed off area) this allowed for more people to see our stall and to see what they needed to do. From then on we had a steady stream of participants wanting to try their hand at our game and win some prizes.

If we had a bit more preparation we probably would have changed our aesthetic a bit more- the stall walls looked a bit blank and not very appealing, but our crafting table made up for it.

in terms of our poll, we pulled a large amount of results from some very different majors: students studying Industrial design came back more than twice to have a go!

However, VCD design major's were the overall winners, having the most accurate shots out of the whole market, followed by Industrial design.

VCD were also the most frequent participants, followed by Industrial and Fashion.

Stall set-up/ further notes

At 6.00 today we had our time slot to load and set up our stall. the targets fit well within the spacial constrictions of the stall and are therefore well within throwing range of the darts.

Upon looking at our stall, we decided to go ahead and cover it with newsprint anyway (we had previously decided to not do this but the stall looked far too bare) Luuk found some spare newsprint from a friend and we quickly taped it too our stall. We'll meet at 8.30 tomorrow morning to finish up some last minute details (streamer decorations/ extra signage) to our stall.

Materials used for Paper Darts

We've cut the paper dart paper into the desired size- A6. Taylor had the idea of introducing another simple aspect to the survey - which colour was each major's favourite e.g. Graphic=white, fashion=blue etc. At the end of the marketplace we will count up which design major used which colour the most to find out which colour is each disciplines favourite.

Emergency Ambassador Meeting

Today (monday) the group ambassadors were called to have an emergency meeting to discuss some things. The main problem addressed was the stall panels-unfortunately there was a poor turnout on sunday to apply lining to the market panels so only a third of them were completed. There is an option to cover our stall with our own material, So we'll bring some spare fabrics tomorrow to see what it looks like on the stall. However, having our stall covered isn't inherent to our experience, so we might just end up leaving our stall as is. We have two tables needed for our stall (one for crafting paper planes, one for a throwing line) so having empty panels may give off a sense of spaciousness rather than an enclosed stall.

Sign for Stall

We've come up with a sign design for our stall, that embraces the Massey colours for students and the notion of the stall- design, discipline, darts - Design for the process of creating your own dart, discipline in managing to land a dart in the target, and darts for... the main aspect of the stall.
